About Us
About My Lasting Plan
My Lasting Plan is a local social enterprise. We launched in January 2026 with a simple belief: older Australians should be able to age with dignity and confidence, without fear of financial exploitation.
Our vision is affordable, accessible financial safety for everyone.
Our philosophy is that financial safety is the foundation of overall retirement wellbeing.
Our social mission is to empower older Australians to age with dignity and confidence — by protecting their financial independence and making sure their wishes are respected.
Why My Lasting Plan exists
Over the next two decades, trillions of dollars will pass from one generation to the next. As families navigate this transition, many older Australians will invite a loved one to help manage their money.
While medical advancements mean we are living longer, managing our money safely over these extended years requires safe solutions. When organisations delegate financial authority, they rely on structured accountability, checks and balances, and transparency. Families deserve the same robust support.
We exist to help families delegate money responsibly. By pairing intuitive digital visibility with communal support, we provide the structured transparency that safeguards your financial independence, protects your family's harmony, and gives you peace of mind.
That peace of mind is worth planning for. For most older Australians, this is the first time they have handed decisions about their life savings to a loved one. For most of those loved ones, it is the first time they have managed someone else's money. Both deserve support to get it right from the start.
Something this important should not be left to chance.
What being a social enterprise means in practice
Any business can describe itself as purpose-driven. We have written ours into the company's constitution, where changing it requires the unanimous agreement of every shareholder.
There are three locks.
The mission lock.
Our social purpose — protecting the financial independence of older Australians — is written into our governing document as the company's core objective.
The dividend lock.
What we spend on delivering this work to the people it is for — wages, the platform, the materials — sets the ceiling on what shareholders can take out. In any year, dividends and other private benefits cannot exceed that figure.
And that spending cannot be token. It has to be at least half of the previous year's profit after tax. The less we put into the mission, the less anyone is allowed to take out.
The asset lock.
If the company is ever wound up, what remains cannot be distributed to shareholders. It must go to another mission-aligned organisation or a registered charity.
All three can only be altered by a 100% unanimous shareholder resolution. Not a majority. Every single shareholder.
Elder financial abuse is a social problem, and solving it takes a whole community — families, professionals, banks, community organisations and government agencies, each doing the part they are best placed to do. This is our contribution.
About the Founder
David Choi is the Founder of My Lasting Plan.
Raised in Sydney, David was educated at Sydney Grammar School and UNSW, where he graduated with degrees in Law and Finance.
He spent 20 years as an institutional portfolio manager before becoming an entrepreneur. Most recently he was Director of Portfolio Construction at AustralianSuper. Earlier roles included Head of Australian Macro at Aberdeen Asset Management, and Portfolio Dealer at Treasury Corporation of NSW.
David's reason for starting My Lasting Plan is personal. His own family lived through the importance of financial safety, and he saw first-hand how badly it can go when it isn't managed well — eroding wealth, health and family harmony together. He left his corporate career to work on this problem.
